According to statistics from the China Packaging Industry Association, since 2016, the output of major products in China's packaging industry has maintained a volatile upward development trend. By 2020, paper and cardboard products will be produced at 84,359,600 tons, a year-on-year increase of 9.6%, and the output scale has reached a new high.
As a major manufacturing country, China’s packaging industry has always ranked second in the country. Since 2017, the proportion of China’s paper and paperboard output has maintained a fluctuating upward trend. By 2020, China’s paper and paperboard output will account for international paper and paperboard products. 15.6% of the total output.
The concentration of China's packaging industry continues to grow
From the perspective of the output structure of major products, at present, the major product of China's paper industry is still packaging paper. In 2020, China’s packaging paper production will be 117,844,400 tons, accounting for 23.25% of the total international paper and paperboard production. It is currently the only subdivided variety whose output has exceeded 10 million tons; the output of cultural paper and household paper is 12.582 million tons and 11.265 million tons, respectively 10.60% and 5.19% of the total output.
In terms of enterprises, the concentration of the paper industry in China's Guangdong Province will further increase in 2020, and the comprehensive strength of key backbone enterprises will be further enhanced. As of 2020, there are 42 paper-making companies in Guangdong Province, China with a capacity of more than 100,000 tons of paper and paperboard per year. Among them, there are 6 companies with a capacity of more than 1 million tons per year, namely Nine Dragons Paper (Holdings) Co., Ltd. , Lee & Man Paper Co., Ltd., Dongguan Jianhui Paper Co., Ltd., Dongguan Jinzhou Paper Co., Ltd., Asia Pacific Senbo (Guangdong) Paper Co., Ltd., Zhanjiang Chenming Pulp & Paper Co., Ltd.; the total virgin pulp of these 6 companies The output is 819,000 tons, and the total output of paper and paperboard is 12.534 million tons, accounting for 51.45% of China's total paper and paperboard output;
The operating efficiency of China's packaging industry has rebounded
From the perspective of industry operating efficiency, since 2017, the main operating income of China's packaging industry has shown a trend of first rising and then falling. In 2020, the packaging industry will achieve revenue of 1,240.28 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 1.8%. In terms of total profit, after experiencing a continuous decline in 2018-2019, the total profit of China's packaging industry will rebound strongly in 2020, with a total profit of 14.627 billion US dollars for the year, an increase of 22.1% year-on-year.
